Story
Hello!
Welcome to my fundraising page. Im hoping to raise £200 to help kick mental illnesses ASS.
As someone with first hand experience of severe anxiety and depression I could not be prouder to run my first full marathon for The Mental Health Foundation!
The cancellation of the Edinburgh running festival has meant i've designed my own route for the 5th September along the beautiful South West coastal path (from Swanage to Lulworth Castle), Devonshire, a section of the incredible Jurassic coast.
The Stats:
- 1 in 6 people experience common poor mental health symptoms weekly.
- Poor Mental Health is a main cause of disease burden Globally.
- Depression is the 2nd leading cause of disability globally.
- Deaths by Suicide is disproportionately male (75% of 6, 500 deaths in 2018).
- 50 % of all mental health problems are established by the age of 14.
The urgency:
These issues occur across the entire human lifetime (in children, in adults and parents, in the workplace, and the elderly) and are at the mercy of the complex unique bio-sociological pressures we endure as individual animals living within complex social systems. In a Covid world the mental challenges we face are only exacerbated.
The solutions:
The work the MHF does is too comprehensive for me to write and so I've included a link to their projects below:

How you can help:
Any donation you can afford - big or small - will help the cause and get my sweaty self over the finish line on race day.
Thank you so much in advance.
Peace and love,
Matt
