We recognise that change often begins in civil society. The power civil society has to drive truly transformational change – in one person’s life or our entire society – is most effective when we work at our best, without constraint. We call it ‘Social Power’. Our mission is to unleash it.

Story

I've volunteered to take part in the 3 Peaks Challenge this summer. This involves all 19 stones of me walking up Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours - you'll be paying for my pain so give generously.

I'll be raising money for the Sheila McKechnie Foundation, a fantastic charity set up in memory of my former boss who died in 2003. Sheila was the Director of Which?, Director of Shelter and a thorn in the side of Government.

This is really going to hurt so if you want to see me in agony, donate here and remember to select the gift aid option

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Sheila McKechnie Foundation will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Thanks for your support.
