Equinox 24 · 16 September 2023

Myeloma UK is the only organisation in the UK dealing exclusively with myeloma. We provide information and support to patients and their families and help myeloma patients live longer, with a better quality of life by accelerating the discovery, development of and access to new treatments.

Story

Over the weekend of the 16th and 17th of September I will be running at Equinox24; a 24-hour running event, with the goal of completing as many 10km laps as possible within the time and the hope of getting close to 100 kilometres.

I am raising money for Myeloma UK, a charity which supports people with a treatable but incurable type of blood cancer. It is a relapsing-remitting cancer. This means there are periods when the myeloma is causing symptoms and/or complications and needs to be treated, followed by periods of remission or plateau where the myeloma does not cause symptoms and does not require treatment.

This is an illness which is close to my heart, my dad has it, along with others I know, but also 24,000 people in the UK. So that’s one hour on my feet for every 1000 people…

If you know anything about me then you’ll know I like a challenge, but this is like nothing I’ve ever done before. To give it some thought - when was the last time you stayed awake for 24-hours solid? It’s going to be a real challenge, but nothing compared to what 24,000 people in the UK are dealing with

So please, every penny helps.
