Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.

Story

Guten Tag,

On the 30th September 2012 I will be running the 2012 Berlin Marathon.  The 26.2 mile course which meanders around the streets of the German capital is recognised as one of the 5 'World Major' marathons and attracts the world's best elite runners. Hence, why I will be running in it.

Last year my friend Paddy died as a result of a brain tumour which he had been battling for a number of years. A brief obituary can be found here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/theguardian/2011/dec/05/patrick-ebbutt-obituary.

Paddy believed strongly that Brain Tumour Research are going great work in developing treatments for the terrible condition that affected him, and thousands of others.  In this vein I am trying to raise as much money as possible for this great cause.

My aim is to finish in sub-3:30:00. An ambitious target given my PB of 3:39:07, but Paddy always loved a challenge…

Dankeschön for your support.

Mit Freundlichen Grüßen,

Matthew Dawber
