The Pennine Way - 268 miles · 28 July 2021

Booth Centre is proud to work with UK citizens, refugees, migrants and anyone in need of support to address the impacts of homelessness, poverty and the immigration system. We have a wealth of experience and knowledge of person-centred, trauma-informed working for 30 years.

Story

Last year I was blown away by the support I achieved for my 198 mile Coast To Coast walk. In spite of the challenges and uncertainties, your spirit of generosity did not wane!

Two months ago I thought 'let's do it all again!', only this time I'm upping the challenge. The Pennine Way is a 268 mile trail that stretches from Edale, in the Peak District all the way to Kirk Yetholm, just inside the Scottish border. Whereas the Coast To Coast boasts many beautiful villages and towns on it's path, The Pennine Way is a much more desolate trail, with tricky, bleak terrain in many of it's sections. I'm being ambitious in my itinerary and aiming to do it in 15 to 16 days.

What is the Booth Centre I hear you ask?

The Booth Centre is a community centre run with and for people affected by homelessness. It provides a warm welcome, an opportunity to belong, to gain a purpose and rebuild lives. Their programme includes activities such as volunteering, creative projects and sports, as well as training and help to gain employment. They also support people to improve health and wellbeing, to access emergency accommodation, and to secure and maintain a permanent home.

Honestly, their track record is phenomenal and having volunteered in the centre myself I can tell you, there aren't many centres that provide such an holistic level of support. Here's what they have achieved this past year...
