Story
I have decided to run the London landmarks half marathon to help my wife and others like her. About 18 months ago Lucy unexpectedly woke one morning with a sharp pain in her eye and a deterioration of her vision, after many hours waiting and several hospital appointments she was diagnosed with optic neuritis, an inflammation that affects the optic nerve. It is a condition in its own right, but is also strongly associated with multiple sclerosis. Lucy has been incredibly brave and has undergone many, very painful hospital tests and at the beginning of the summer was diagnosed with MS. Around the same time I had a fall at work and tore my groin muscles in my leg leaving me unable to walk and certainly not able to run, something which I had been really enjoying. Following a conversation with a good friend about getting my motivation back again I saw an advert for the MS society to run on their behalf to raise funds to help research and assist those living with the condition. I see everyday how incredibly strong Lucy is I’m so proud of her and this is just a very small way I can do something to help her and others like her.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Best wishes,
M.
