When I was a kid, exploring Chicago in summertime was like a dream to me. From trips to the Field Museum to seeing the W flag fly at Wrigley Field, it felt like the most exciting place on earth. In 2019, I got to see more of the city than I ever could have imagined when I ran my first full marathon there. More than 1 million people from all walks of life formed a chain across the city to cheer us on over the course of 26.2 miles. 

Needless to say, Chicago is a city close to my heart. 

That's why this year, I'm running the marathon to raise money for an amazing organization that strives to meet the needs of youth facing housing insecurity throughout the city. Since opening its doors in 2002, La Casa Norte has helped more than 30,000 individuals across Chicago with stable housing and comprehensive health and educational services. Today, La Casa Norte is one of the largest housing and support services for youth and families experiencing homelessness in Chicago. 

But there is a long way to go. Every year, more than 10,000 kids enter the Chicago Public School system without a stable home in which to live. 

As family and friends who have supported my running adventures in the past and/or who are part of the reason I always love coming back to the Windy City, I'm asking for your help! My goal between now and October 9th is to raise $1,250 for La Casa Norte to meet the needs of kids who should get the chance to feel the greatness of Chicago and its people just the way I have since I was a kid.
