Story
In April 2018, I'm running ABP Newport Marathon to raise money for Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff. This is an amazing charity that helps prevent, diagnose and treat thousands of all ages all over the country.
As most of you may know, my girlfriend Jordanna was diagnosed with a brain tumour when she was 11 years old, this was removed with surgery in March 2006. At the age of 13 she underwent another operation to remove the re-growth of the tumour. In August 2012 she was told the tumour had re-grown for the third time and she had more surgery to remove the tumour in August 2012.
Just 2 months after Jordanna and I started seeing each other in 2012, she underwent a 6 week course of radiotherapy, which she completed in April 2013. I spent many days with her at Velindre whilst she underwent her treatment and the work and care they provide for thousands of patients is incredible. As you can imagine this was a very difficult time for us but
throughout her treatment, she remained extremely positive and it has given me the determination to help others who are in the same situation she was in. Although Jordanna's tumour was benign, it acted like a cancerous tumour and she underwent treatment a cancer patient would.
