Remaining Races

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page to read about what I am doing for Ali's Gift, but more importantly who Ali's Gift are and how do your donations help those who need it most.

Ali's Gift
Ali's Gift was founded in the memory of Alistair Beament, the brother of a very good friend of mine, who sadly passed away in June 2014.

Ali was born in 1992 and diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when he was 5 weeks old. He was a lively and adventurous child who grew to be the exact same as an adult.

He loved a challenge and lived his life to the full doing many of the things other teenagers were able to do and some more besides.

Despite his condition, Ali travelled widely, gained a B.A degree and became a treasured friend to many who loved his spirit and his zest for life.

This charity was set up to support other young people with cystic fibrosis to make the most of every bit of life and live it to the full, creating their own experiences and memories.

The goal right now is to give young CF sufferers the freedom to experience the world, study, follow their passions, overcome challenges and create lifelong memories.

As CF progresses, everyday activities become increasingly difficult. We strongly believe that sufferers deserve a helping hand and a pat on the back.

The Challenge
Having just turned 29 I have decided to complete 32 races between now and my 30th birthday (11th September 2018).

Not being a natural swimmer, the Ironman 70.3 will be a particular challenge. The distances being a 1.2mile swim, 56mile bike ride followed by a 13.1mile run - in under 8 hours.

I should emphasise that although I have run before, my last true endurance event was the London Marathon over 6 years ago. Also, after that I stopped and did not continue to do races for another 51 weeks....

This will be a completely different challenge that will not only test my physical endurance but also my mental strength to keep going, not only with the events but also getting out and training every week for an entire year.

All contributions are greatly appreciated. I am asking for donations of any size - I promise you it really does make a difference. Anything you can give is most welcome. Please also feel free to share this page amongst family & friends.

Thank you in advance and wish me luck!

We don't believe that CF should be a barrier to fun, independence or learning and as such we provide young sufferers with a personal gift of their choice or a one off financial reward for dedication to academic studies. Until we find a cure for CF, let's help the sufferers live life to the full.
