Story

This is a cause close to my son's heart after we helped some people out when we were both in Stevenage recently. He asked me if there was anything we could do to raise a bit of money before Christmas...

Challenge: Cycle to all 40 branches of Simmons in a day

Distance: 158 miles, including 12,000 feet of climbing

Date: 8 December (weather and COVID recovery dependent! may be a little later if icy on the day, but def before Christmas)

Conscious of how tough things are for everyone at the moment, I'm only looking for really small individual donations - e.g. a couple of £s.

I visit Simmons for a coffee and pastry a few times a week and am conscious this is a luxury. I've shared the idea with them and they've been really supportive, they will be making a generous donation.

RCN 1186381
Feed Up Warm Up is a North Hertfordshire based charity supporting those who are homeless and those at risk of homelessness. We operate 2 weekly drop in centres in Hitchin and Stevenage where anybody is welcome to come and spend the evening with us. We offer live music, counselling services, a hot meal, free haircuts, food parcels, addiction advice and a warm welcoming smile and a chat. We support on average 100 guests a week between both drop in services. We also have an outreach team who respond to local referrals from other charities and agencies. During the pandemic we have reached out to local struggling families who have been directly impacted by the pandemic by delivering weekly food parcels and other support services. Through this particular service we have made up and delivered over 2600 food parcels which equates to 11,000 individuals since April 2020. We are funded purely by donations from kind members of the public and local businesses. Our belief is that all people should be treated with dignity, respect, kindness, equality and included in the local community.
