Story
I am not sure how I ever got persuaded to do a formal run, let alone the LONDON 10K on 10 July – a weak moment indeed!
You all know that I am a natural athlete (finely honed) and that to spend a Sunday pounding the streets of London Is just my thing…not! Therefore I will only be doing this once.
I am running for a small, but very special charity that I am involved with, am passionate about and does really good work. The Athlone Trust (www.athlonetrust.com) helps to assist parents of adopted children with serious disabilities often caused by maltreatment or neglect before they were adopted. The funds are directed to help pay for children with special educational needs to attend special schools in cases where the fees cannot or will not be paid for by local authorities. All the stories are heartbreaking and in some cases just a small amount of money can ease the immense strain that these families endure day in day out! If I were in their situation I would sincerely hope that there was someone or somebody that would help me.
