Story
I am helping raise funds for Citizens Advice Bucks Cost of Living Crisis Campaign. Funds raised are going to help people facing hardship in our County- whether that's providing food in crisis, emergency grants, debt advice or helping people to get back on their feet again.
The Race to the Stones is the UKs oldest and most famous Ultra Marathon, along the ancient Ridgeway for 100Kilometers. Finishing in Avebury stone circle.
I’m hoping for good weather (but not too hot!) and plenty of donations to help keep me going! Anything you can spare is most welcome.
In just one month Citizens Advice Bucks helped a total of 1,958 clients, answering the phone to 229 people and helping with over 4,000 issues. They helped 50 people who could not afford to buy food, giving them food bank vouchers to make sure that they and their families did not go hungry.
Citizens Advice Bucks is helping some of Buckinghamshire’s most vulnerable each and every day. People like Zahab*:
“We had no food and just £10 to last the month. Citizens Advice Bucks helped us to apply for benefits, my eldest son is disabled, I have another one on the way. My partner lost his job at the worst possible time, and we were really struggling. The help made all the difference, we were able to apply for a crisis grant for food, and we got benefits to tide us over until my partner gets a job”.
Citizens Advice Bucks can only help a fraction of those in need like Zahab* right now. Buckinghamshire, though affluent, has significant pockets of poverty in wards that are in the 20% most deprived in the country. An estimated 17,000 children are living in child poverty and behind each one of those there is a family struggling to make ends meet.
Every donation made to Citizens Advice Bucks will help their volunteers to help more people.
