I am running the London Marathon in Memory of Alun jones who was a member of St Pauls chambers for 14 years but sadly passed away unexpectedly in September 2018 from a brain haemorrhage at the age of just 44.

The place hasn't felt the same since Alun died. When Alun wasn't in court or working from home he was either in Chambers' library or dropping files on my desk to bill, return, shred or file.

I cannot think of anyone who would have given up as much time as he did for me, researching the law into littering as he did when the "environmental police" grabbed me for dropping a cigarette end on the floor. I am sure it was his helpful nature that prompted him to help me or perhaps it was guilt as I could see him laughing from the other side of the road as the officer tapped me on the shoulder! Suffice to say I ended up paying the fine!

those of you who know me know that I do run already. I run to and from work daily, partly for the health benefits and partly because I have a tendency to crash and fall off my bike whenever I get on it, resulting in two trips to Hospital, mainly though it is a reluctance to pay for buses that keeps me running.

28th April 2019 will mark my second attempt at a marathon, but the first attempt at London. York was my first Marathon but at 18 miles my ankle gave up on me, this was an old injury which I sustained whilst participating in a high-speed alpine pursuit (sledging) I managed to hobble to the finish line but it has since niggled away that I couldn't complete it in the time I was hoping to achieve.

I have finally got a ballot entry and also enough time has passed from saying "never again" to have regained the urge to try again.

It is therefore fitting that I should run in memory of Alun and I do it for his wife's chosen charity which is Live life Give Life.
