On 19th July, Matt was diagnosed with leukaemia after suffering from an unknown illness for 10 days. He was transfered to the The City Hospital where he began treatment immediately. After having a bone marrow sample taken and tested, he was further diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL); a rare and extremely aggressive form of Leukaemia. His condition was harder to treat as the type of cells he had were resistant to treatment and he had a number of blood clots on his lungs and heart. Matt was in hospital for 20 days before he lost his battle with this cruel disease. He never once complained during the process and showed tremendous strength and bravery despite everything that he faced.

He was a much loved husband, son, brother and uncle to his two nephews. He was also a very proud teacher who was extremely passionate about improving the lives of the children he taught. You have left a huge hole in all of our lives ❤️
