This year Birmingham Half Marathon team are raising money for the Eureka Appeal; supporting potentially life changing research at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital!

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

4 years ago our daughter was diagnosed with scoliosis, she had an 80° curve to her spine. After some consultation with the surgeons, it was decided that an operation to fuse some of her vertebrae would be the best option. So after her GCSE's she had her operation and all went well, a week later she was home. After a follow up appointment it was noticed that a screw had come out and corrective surgery was needed. 2 weeks later all was good again. It has now been over a year since her first operation and she has recently gone back to doing parkrun, and last week had her best run. All this would not have been possible if it wasn't for the excellent care she received at the Royal orthopaedic hospital.

This year, the ROH charitable fund are raising money for the Eureka appeal "Empowering research and innovation in orthopaedics". If it wasn't for the research done at ROH, thousands of people wouldn't have their life changing operations but there are still some that can't due to there not being enough research into conditions and treatment, it is for those people that I am running this half marathon.
