Dry 2018 · 1 January 2018

1 in 5 children in the UK are affected by their parents' alcohol problems. They are often frightened and isolated, with no one to turn to for help. Nacoa responds by providing a free, confidential telephone, 1-2-1 chat and email helpline.

Story

Everyone knows I thoroughly enjoy a night out with a couple of drinks (or 10)- I am the worst human being to be around when hungover!!

However, a lot of people don't know that I grew up with an alcoholic parent. This is my way of helping the children who's lives are affected by their parent's drinking.

If, at any point during the year, I give in and drink then I will DOUBLE any money that has been donated up until that point.

There are some big events this coming year where i could slip up:

- Stag do to Hamburg

- Epsom Derby (my favourite drinking day of the year)

- 3 weddings

- Holiday (Shaunna is aiming to take us to Craig David's Ibiza pool party)

- Christmas/ New year period

Many people will wait until the end of the year in order to donate: I get this, as most people don't think i'll do it!!

If, at any point during the year, I give in and drink then I will DOUBLE any money that has been donated up until that point.

Nacoa (The National Association for Children of Alcoholics) is a Bristol based charity founded in 1990 to provide help and support for everyone affected by a parent’s drinking. We believe that every child has the right to a happy childhood and to live a creative and meaningful life but when drink is the family secret they are more likely to experience family violence, neglect and other problems in their own homes.
