Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The definition of foolish perhaps can now be explained…!
As many of you will already know, I am always up for a challenge and try and do something once a year to raise money for a worthwhile charity. I have therefore been donning stretchy shorts and pounding the pavements in preparation for a charity trek across the Sahara desert in February next year.
I am embarking on the mammoth task of trekking across the world’s second largest desert to raise money for Beaumond House (website link http://www.saharatrek.co.uk), which is organising the trip as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations. This charity is a local Hospice that looks after people and their families when they have terminal illnesses. I do have first-hand experience of the charity as a close friend of mine sadly passed away in his early forties and the hospice gave some well needed help to his young family and wife – so I know how important the work they do is.
The ten-day hike will start on Friday 10 February, and I am already hard at work training to hopefully be fit for the task.
I have been running, swimming and walking for the past few months, but now I am really ramping it up and have started a rabbit food diet to help me to get fit! I am hoping to raise £20,000 so I need to be sure I do not let anyone down. I am not too nervous about the actual trek, but I am concerned about where the toilets will be!!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Many thanks,
Matthew
