Story

On September 19th Blunham CC will attempt to beat the world record for the longest continuous game of cricket, in the world.... EVER!

The record is currently 35 hours held by a club in Kent although there are unratified records of 50 and 55 hours set by clubs in Australia and New Zealand in the past year. We are starting at 9am Friday 19th of September and playing through 2 nights to a finish at around 8pm Sunday 21st September. We will have bands playing throughout most of the duration plus the ECB roadshow in attendance. We also will have the support of Charlotte Edwards, England Ladies Captain plus hopefully Monty Panesar as well. We aim to set 59 hours.

Come and support 24 mad Cricketers who aim to break a world record. In conjunction with the Blunham Playing Field Association, (registered charity number 300009) and the Guinness Book of World Records, we aim to raise £40,000 to extend and refurbish the village's current Pavilion on the playing field. We need to bring the pavilion in line with current ECB guidelines for Cricket, which will at the same time improve the whole facility for everyone who uses it, as it belongs to the village as a whole. The current pavilion has a gloomy interior and inadequate kitchen, toilet and bar areas; the aim is refurbish the whole. We also require larger changing rooms and a scorebox, plus better storage facilities for everyone who uses the field and pavilion. We are commencing the attempt at 9am on Friday the 19th of September and aim to finish by 8pm on Sunday the 21st of September. This includes playing through the night and all weather conditions!!

Thank you for your support, anything you can do to help will be gratefully received.

About the charity

The BPFA provides sporting and recreational facilities to the general public in the village of Blunham. One of our groups is a thriving cricket team of over 120 members providing adult and youth cricket in Bedfordshire. This year we have a fledgling youth football team joining us. We aim to improve our facilities this year by extending and refurbishing our pavilion.
