Story
The sunshine, the copious supplies of jelly babies, the cheering crowds...last year's sun-drenched London Marathon was all so seductive... from the sidelines
Well, I was duly seduced and for the past six months I have been flogging my creaking frame in and out of the City and up and down the Thames towpath in preparation for this year's race, which is taking place on 13 April. I am going to be doing the race alongside my nephew, Ed, who's kindly coming all the way from Chattanooga, Tennessee to pace his uncle. No notion of target times or anything - we are both just aiming to post a personal best (it's our first marathon after all).
I am running in support of beat, a brilliant charity which does campaigning work to change the way people think about eating disorders, improve the way that support and treatment are delivered and help anyone believe that their eating disorder can be beaten. It is certainly an inspiring message to be carrying with me as I grind through the training runs.
It would be fantastic if you could help with a contribution towards this fundraising effort. Donating through this site is easy and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: beat will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
