Story

Earlier this summer, my mum was diagnosed with cervical cancer which came as a massive shock to us all and especially her. Despite putting up a brave fight, this horrible condition took over and mum unfortunately passed away less than 8 weeks later.

From the start of being diagnosed, the support she received from the Macmillan nurses was brilliant and they did their very best to make sure that she was comfortable and as pain-free as possible. In what turned out to be mums final week she was cared for at "Y Bwthyn Newydd Bridgend" which is a small local hospice. Whilst the week was the hardest of my life I can't say enough positive things about everyone involved at the hospice. The care they provided for mum was amazing which allowed her to be peaceful and pain free. Not only were they there for her but also for us as a family.

Hopefully any money raised through this run will be put towards the cost of building a new facility elsewhere in South Wales which will allow other families the support that was provided to mine.
