We support SMEs in developing economies to develop their business & achieve growth

Story

Thanks so much for checking out my JustGiving page!

In January 2018 I will be spending 3 months in Africa as a Team Leader for Challenges Worldwide (http://challengesworldwide.com/), as part of the International Citizen Service (ICS).

Who are Challenges Worldwide?

Challenges Worldwide aims to develop SMEs in Africa through a variety of business support mechanisms. By helping 750+ businesses, CW aims is to positive impact 300,000 people and generated economic growth of over $5 million USD over their business portfolio.

As well as that, they aim to develop 1,500 'active citizens', both in the UK and in the project countries, by developing their business skills and helping facilitate them improve the world!

Both worthy goals by any measure!

What will you be doing?

I'm be volunteering in Africa (country TBC) for 3 months as a Team Leader. That means that I, along with an in-country volunteer, will be responsible for a team of volunteers who will be assigned to a local business and will help develop it.

So the sort of thing I will be up to will include:

  • Pastoral support of the volunteers
  • Leading training in business support, consultancy and other useful things!
  • Practical administration for the group - risk assessment, checking accommodation, that kind of thing.
  • Doing evaluations with the volunteers, making sure they're learning and doing well for the businesses
  • Identifying new in-country opportunities for business support, host families.
  • Generally learning a whole bunch!

Why do you need my money?

As part of the programme, I'm raising £800 to go towards the work that Challenges Worldwide do.

First thing's first - this money does not pay for my trip or project. It goes towards the work of the charity in general

So the money goes towards Challenges Worldwide's work in helping small and medium businesses in Africa and developing young people domestically and abroad. It has a real effect on developing sustainable economic solutions to poverty, as well as helping develop young people to be better able to enact positive change in the world. Who isn't into that?!

I'd also be lying if I said, it wouldn't be great for me personally if you supported me on a really exciting project!

Check out the website and the success stories and please give whatever you can to this awesome cause.

As well as that remember to Gift Aid if you're eligible. The Governement still gives free money if you're a UK tax payer so help Challenges Worldwide benefit from some free (from your perspective) money!

Anything else?

Yes! If you want to help me fundraise, either by suggesting a challenge, paying me to do a job you've not wanted to do yourself via a donation, or you have any questions, hit me up on
