Endurance Swim / Bike / Run Events 2011

This is my online page which I will link to my other blogs and pages as and when I post. In a nut shell, if you pledge money to my charity project you know you will be making a difference in many peoples' lives whilst watching me go through copious amnounts of pain (but secretly I like it!).

On a serious note, I recently lost a dear friend and colleague to cancer and was told by my best friend Dom, son of my friend that passed, what an awesome job the Macmillan nurses did for him and his family during such a difficult time. Although I felt I could do little for Liz and her family at the time, I know I can now  make a difference to others in her memory and the memory of others I have lost recently like my amazing grandfather Norman Turnbull. I only hope I can achieve enough to even be worthy of walking in the shadows of these two great people. Only love.

I must pay special thanks to my beautiful wife Kelly and amazing boys Ben and Dylan, who rarely support from the sidelines and instead, have got involved in training with me! Kelly has also been inspired to race alongside me in some of the events as well. I love you all so much for your patience and support!

Below is a list of the challenges I am attempting to complete before the end of the summer 2011 and an overview of the really silly things I'll be planning for 2012, (by the way, I will be upping my expected total to £2000 next year!).

AND FINALLY!....... I completed the pinnacle of my endurance challenges on 1st of October. 176miles of cycling from Hartlepool to Glenrothes in Fife in 11hours and 25mins of riding time! With 3 punctures and a sausage sandwich stop in took 12hrs and 10mins. I set off at 5am from Hpool and arrived at Glenrothes at 5.10pm . . sore and tired but elated!

-H'pool to Glenrothes 1 day Endurance Ride  - 180m (299km)

*All the above are open water or sea swims other than Cleveland which is a pool swim, and I will be setting myself the personal target of comleting the above 492km of envents in less than 30 RACING HOURS!!!!!!!

N.B - The above statement was recorded when I was originally doing 4 triathlons and a long bike ride!!!!! It got a bit bigger!

2012 Projects - After considering the successes (and failures) of 2011, I will be aiming to undertake a number of triathlon and endurance challenges which will culminate in an 'Ironman' distance triathlon in August 2012, which consists of a 2.4mile open water swim, a 112 mile bike ride followed directly by a 26.2 mile full marathon!

. . and all the pain and training will be worth it if YOU help me reach my donation target and really make a difference in someone's life!
