Story
At just 4 years old, my younger cousin, Olivia, was diagnosed with a brain tumour called a craniopharyngioma. She was admitted to hospital and had an emergency operation to relieve the pressure on her brain. She then had a subsequent craniotomy (a 10-hour operation to attempt to remove the tumour).
Now, aged 7 years old, she has had multiple MRIs, a course of proton beam therapy and many other medical procedures including medication and daily injections for hormone replacement. Unfortunately, a recent MRI scan has shown her tumour and cysts have regrown and she is due to
have further surgery in December. She is an inspiration as she never complains or makes a fuss.
I have decided to raise money to support children like my cousin, Olivia, for Success Charity by riding a virtual coast-to-coast (313 km) during December. Success Charity is dedicated to helping brain tumour survivors, through pastoral support, both emotional and social. They also use donations to fund the critical research that helps to provide cutting edge technology, used to help treat brain tumours, but also to research what causes them. They aim for a brighter, better future, in which brain tumours can easily be cured. With this campaign, I hope to help support those who struggle on in the endless fight against brain tumours, just like Olivia. Thank you for your support.
