On April 22, we will be taking on a challenge that neither of us expected we would ever do - running the London Marathon!

We are doing it to raise money for the Rainforest Foundation UK, a charity that works to protect tropical rainforests in Africa and South America by ensuring the rights of those who know the forest best - indigenous people and traditional forest dwellers - are upheld and respected.

Neither of us has ever run anything close to 42km (26 miles) - and we are feeling a little daunted by what awaits us. But your support for us and an organisation that we know is doing valuable work on the ground  will help keep us motivated until race day.

Maud has been working with the Rainforest Foundation UK for almost two years and has witnessed first-hand the great work the organisation is doing in the field to help forest communities defend their rights and protect their environment. 

The Rainforest Foundation UK stands out from other environmental organisations in that focuses very much on human rights -  recognising that social and environmental justice are two sides of the same coin.
