Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hello my name is Maureen O’Bern and I have worked at Leigh Library for over 30 years. I was wanting to raise money for Wigan and Leigh Hospice for a lovely friend and family member who was cared for there during her illness. She has since sadly passed away. They do such a wonderful job for all involved and wanting to say thank you was the least I could do.
I came up with the idea of a mini triathlon and climbing a tree at the end (which is a passion of mine). Three work friends jumped at the chance to join me, so we now have put the idea into reality. Hannah Turner, Jenny Rigby, Sharon Ritchie and myself have now set a challenge to swim 32 lengths of the pool, a 5km run and a 12 mile bike ride finishing with the tree climb. We have been training really hard for a few weeks now as this is so new to us and are excited to raise as much money as we can for such a worthy cause.
I thought if every employee of Wigan Council donated just £1.00 we could raise over £4000 which would be absolutely amazing.
I have set the challenge for 15th September 2019 so we have a few more weeks to keep training hard and raising as much money as we can for the Hospice.
Thank you all so much in advance and we will keep you updated as we go along.
Many thanks
Maureen
