I am running the Edinburgh marathon in May to raise money for the TailorEd Foundation and would appreciate a moment to pitch for your donation.

TailorEd is an Edinburgh charity which partners with families to provide bespoke support to enable the development of autistic children.

Your generosity will help fund a TailorEd key worker to have regular 1-2-1 sessions with a family to provide practical help with a range of everyday activities which are tricky for autistic kids. 

I have first hand experience on just how valuable the TailorEd services and key workers are. My family are benefitting hugely from their early years service for our youngest son Mylo. We are extremely fortunate young Mylo’s natural disposition is fun, energetic and sensory and we know other families have trickier situations. TailorEd makes sure families don’t fall between the cracks and can get tactical help to make break throughs that really make a difference to their child’s day to day life.

As an aside, I originally entered the marathon as a solo entrant with personal challenge to better my late father’s marathon time of 3h 14m. An aspirational target, but why not challenge myself?  That is a full hour quicker than my last marathon attempt… Plus I know raising money for this fantastic cause will spur me on during the long training runs.

Tailor Ed Foundation is a small, independent charity committed to improving the quality of life for children with autism and their families. We offer a home based service, where we teach practical skills and provide useful strategies tailored to your child and family. This service is available free of charge to families with a child with autism from the age of 3 to 16, living in the City of Edinburgh. We target practical skills, from getting dressed and toileting, to brushing teeth and going to bed, as well as most things in between.
