Story

Hi,

I'm sure some are aware, cancer has taken a lot from my family, unfortunately my mum Kate passed away due to it in 2014 when I was just 10 years old.

Although it was traumatic for all of us, one of the things that helped the most was the care she received from St Ann's hospice, which allowed us all to spend time with her during the final weeks of her wonderful life.

I'll be running both Manchester Half and Manchester Marathon in October and April respectively, in memory of her and to raise money for the place that allowed us all to say goodbye.

Although I was only able to spend 10 short years with her, which seems no time at all, her strong values and her kindness remain with me.

As her friends put it: 'We will always remember Kate for finding the best in someone, even when the rest of us couldn't.'

Cancer is cruel and unfair, but if I can contribute even a small amount towards helping another family deal with similar pain, it will all be worthwhile.

Thankyou.
