Having been on the register for 20 years I got a call out of the blue last year saying I was a match which culminated in a stem cell donation this spring. I hadn’t given much thought in the intervening period to the purpose of the register. Now I have given it quite a lot of thought and this is an extraordinary charity and I would urge you if you’re  not on the register to consider signing up.
