Story
In 2022 I aim to climb Kilimanjaro in support of the Meningitis Research foundation (MRF). The MRF aims to research, raise awareness and ultimately defeat two serious diseases, meningitis and septicaemia.
Shockingly, meningitis and neonatal sepsis are the second biggest infectious killer of children under the age of five on the planet, affecting more than 5 million people every year. They can kill you within 12 hours and are responsible for more deaths of children under 5 than malaria, measles, tetanus, and AIDS combined. However, it is not just children that are at risk, anyone of any age is at risk of contracting either disease, with just as devastating outcomes.
The MRF want this to change. By helping to provide better access to vaccines, health systems that can diagnose and treat children, and support to survivors of meningitis. As well as providing funding to high quality research that aims to help defeat meningitis.
Thanks to your support the MRF have pioneered a global roadmap with the goal of defeating meningitis by 2030. It’s time to make the MRF’s goal a reality. So, by donating to this cause now; in the future when you see that meningitis has been defeated, you will know that you played a direct role in this amazing global achievement.
