Story
Maxability is an arts charity based in North West London on the Grahame Park Estate. They run inclusive pottery classes for adults with learning and physical disabilities, the elderly, those from low-income households and people with mental health concerns. As well as anyone who would benefit from being part of a supportive community and discovering the joy of ceramics.
As part of The Great Charity Pot and Print Fair they are offering a hand thrown porcelain fruit bowl and two green vases made by their brilliant tutors to be won in a Prize Draw to raise funds for Maxability.
About the bowls: "The Mendax tableware range was developed in 2016 during my MA in Ceramics at the Royal College of Art. Designed to reflect upon what is meant to make honest pots in a consumerist disposable society, the work is designed to be both minimal yet human. Just the slightest touch of the hand made is left visible. The slightest variation in the surface from matt to gloss. The subtleness of the glaze surface. This work is modern and minimal but warm and soft and, I hope, timeless." - James Duck 2022
About the vases: "A pair of hand thrown and carved stoneware vases with a glassy green glaze. They are each approximately 14cm x 7cm." - Joanne Bain 2022
