Story

I DID IT!

At 6am we set off from Blackheath in the darkness, and 10 hours 28 minutes later I came over the hill to be greeted by whoops and cheers from everyone at the finish line down below, putting one painful step down after another. From about mile 30 my knee was seizing up everytime we stopped, and I was also afflicted by pain in hips, ankles, toes, and genuinely thought I might not be able to carry on. However, once I got over 36 I fancied it, and once there was less that 16 to go I nearly cried when I thought "I'm gonna bloody do this!"

Thankfully I tagged onto someone who was good at navigating for a large part, and then ran with a guy who knew the route. We ran together for the last 20 and tear-jerkingly crossed the line hand-in-hand in joint 10th place (out of about 160 on the day)!

Very very stiff the next day. Fine now.

So far I've raised over £1400 plus over £330 in Gift Aid to support the fantastic, life-saving work of the British Red Cross - which I'm very  pleased about!

Many many many thanks for your support - it really means a lot to me.

Hello! Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

London to Brighton. 56miles. Running. For the British Red Cross.

I'm stepping up this year to really push myself to the limit by running 56 miles from London to Brighton! Check my latest video blog here.

After the marathons and Great North Run in costume of previous years, I decided this year had to be something really challenging if I was gonna mither you for donations again. So here it is! My first attempt at an Ultra Marathon. And I have to navigate!!!!

Please make it worth my while by sponsoring me on this page. I'm running so that the Red Cross can run to help people affected by crises and disasters - eg. house fires, floods, earthquakes and tsunamis. The Red Cross also loans wheelchairs to people unable to get one from the NHS, or need care after leaving hospital, or are refugees finding themselves destitute. It's a fantastic cause - more at www.redcross.org.uk

So, please sponsor me now !

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
