Story
Earlier this year a very close family friend died after a long battle with multiple sclerosis.
Gary Denham was an artistic genius and had a very successful career working with some of the world's biggest brands as an Art Director. He was an accomplished photographer, painter and my pa's best mate.
Gary was diagnosed with MS at the age of 30, it had prevented him from continuing to work and from living an independent life. During my last visit to see him, he showed me a number of paintings he'd created on his iPad, I couldn't believe he'd managed to create something so beautiful on a basic tablet, although MS limited him in ways, until the day he passed he remained a creative genius and an artistic inspiration.
Multiple Sclerpsos (MS) is different for everyone and you can get symptoms in many parts of your body. MS is a neurological condition which means it affects your nerves, it’s caused when your immune system isn’t working properly.
Around 100,000 people in the UK have MS. Most get diagnosed between the ages of 20 and their late 60s.
£5 - Could pay for laboratory essentials which would support vital, life saving research.
£50 - Could pay for 10 calls to the Multiple Sclerosis Society helpline, offering advice and emotional support to those who need it most.
£500 - Could provide a short break grant for someone with MS to enjoy quality time away, a luxury those forced to seek disability allowances might otherwise never afford.
The 100 mile route heads out of London into the glorious Surrey hills and back again. It’s going to be tough as hell, but nothing beats a serious mental and physical challenge. I’m hoping to complete the course within 6 hours, which means an average speed of around 16mph! Let’s hope my little butt cheeks can handle the pace.
Any donation towards my £500 minimum target would be greatly received.
