The Hospice helps people to live their precious lives well. Our care has many forms – at home, in our outpatient Spring Centre or through specialised care in one of our Hospice beds - and is defined by each person's need. We rely on donations to raise the £6m we need each year to fund our free care.

Story

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page, raising money for one of two medical charities which helped maintain the quality of life for my father, David Pitcher, during his 18 month battle against Myelodysplastic Syndrome progressing to Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. In June 2012, following life-threatening pneumonia, Dad was holistically cared for at The Hospice of St Francis, Berkhamsted, and over the course of a month was nurtured back to relative health and independent living which continued right up until his death, for which he held no fear. I will be forever grateful for the inextinguishable humour and compassion shown by all who were touched by Dad during his illness.
