Mayna's Fundraising Page for the 2023 London Marathon

London Marathon 2023 · 23 April 2023 ·
I'm on a mission to complete the Abbot 6 World Marathon Majors - New York, Chicago, Berlin, London, Boston and Tokyo. So far I've completed the first 3 listed. Training for and participating in these events have given me more than words can describe. I love running and what it's given to me. At the same time I can't stop thinking about a recurring sign that I've seen spectators holding along various marathon routes. I've seen variations of the sign that read "26.2 miles until you get you a medal and a banana at the end." This year in my quest to participate in and complete the London marathon I want more than a medal and a banana. I want to look back and say that I made a difference in my life and someone else's life.
For that reason I've chosen to fundraise for London based charity, Able Child Africa. Able Child Africa plays a key role in supporting local partners to protect, educate and empower children with disabilities in the countries where they work. This year they captured the story of Rose and her parents in Malawi. When Rose's parents discovered their first daughter was born with cerebral palsy, they didn't know what to do. They had never seen a child with a disability before and were faced with the stigma that surrounds disability, Rose was hidden away. Able Child Africa in partnership with the Federation of Disability Organisations in Malawi (FEDOMA) reached out to other families like Rose's to help identify children with disabilities in rural Malawi and ensure they get the help they so desperately need.
Please help me reach my fundraising goal while helping to make a difference in the life of children born with disabilities. Thank you for your consideration.
