The Mayor and Civic Officer do a Skydive for Alzheimer's Society · 4 May 2018

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Each Mayoral Year, the Mayor chooses a Charity which he would like to raise funds for. This year, Cllr Cyril Marsburg has chosen the Alzheimer's Society.

Throughout his Mayoral Year he will be fundraising in many different ways, from standing in Supermarkets, attending Local Galas and Events and now him and his Civic Officer, Abbi Grosse  are doing a Skydive to raise money for his Charity.

Both the Mayor and Abbi would be extremely appreciative if you could donate any spare money and sponsor them to do the skydive.

Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of Dementia. It can affect many friends and family members and every single person with this disease will suffer from different symptoms. These include: memory loss, communication, reasoning and orientation.

For the patient this is difficult but for the family member or friend it is heart-breaking to see their loved ones deteriorate in such a way that they become unrecognisable.

How quickly Alzheimer's disease progresses, and the life expectancy of someone with it, vary greatly. On average, people with Alzheimer's disease live for 8 to 10 years after the first symptom. However, this varies a lot, depending particularly on how old the person was when they first developed Alzheimer's.
