I am looking forward to offering support during the year to two local Leamington Spa charities, as both of them provide practical help for those with mental health difficulties.

Mental health problems can affect anyone and everyone, and the help and services offered by charities such as Springfield Mind are needed more than ever. Their Green Minds project encourages people with personal experiences of mental health difficulties to become involved in gardening and growing produce at their allotments. This enables clients to learn new skills, to meet others, and to experience the many benefits of working with nature.”

Mayor of Royal Leamington Spa for 2019–20, Cllr Bill Gifford took up his role on 11th May 2019 and hopes that his support will not only raise much-needed funds for Springfield Mind, but also raise awareness of its activities.

His other charity, the Pam Britton Trust for Dementia, is also based in Leamington Spa and provides support for those with dementia and their carers.

Bill says, “I am delighted to offer support to these charities, and hope to encourage as many people as possible to donate to one – or even both – so they can continue to deliver this vital support.”
