Bike Ride in aid of The Royal British Legion · 23 June 2016

The RBL are the UK's leading charity providing financial, social and emotional support to millions who have served and are currently serving in the British Armed Forces and their dependents.

Story

Wednesday 25th May 2016 was one of the proudest days of my life as I became Mayor of Kirklees for the coming year. It should come as no surprise that my chosen charity for that year is The Royal British Legion.

I have a number of charity events planned to raise as much money as I can for this worthy cause. To mention a few such events:

  • Charity Bike Ride 23rd/24th June 2016 (more information below)
  • Blitz Dance 25th June 2016
  • Dragon Boat Race 9th July 2016
  • Mayor’s Cricket Team V Emmerdale 17th July 2016
  • Huddersfield Has Talent Show 20th August 2016
  • Mayor’s Golf Day 2nd September 2016
  • Mayor's TAB (Tactical Advance to Battle) 17th September 2016
  • Last Night at the Proms 21st September 2016
  • Sporting Legends Dinner 20th October 2016
  • Sing for Peace 4th November 2016
  • Festival of Remembrance 11th November 2016
  • Poppy Dash 13th November 2016
  • Huddersfield Giants v Combined Services Rugby League Team January 2017

That is all for now but much more to come, your support is needed to help those who have fought our wars for us, and now we must fight their battles for them.

Mayor's Charity TAB (Tactical Advance to Battle)

Saturday 17th September 2016.

The challenge involves four teams of up to eight who have to cover a 10K course leading back to Huddersfield Leisure Centre. They will be carrying some items of kit (20kg) along with them. As with a real "TAB" they must be fit to do battle at the end of the run. therefore on their return to Huddersfield Leisure Centre they will be confronted with a problem solving exercise and a gym work out. The winner is the team who completes all there elements first.
