CYCLISTS FIGHTING CANCER enables children and young people living with cancer across the UK to regain their physical fitness and mental wellness by giving them new bikes, adapted trikes, tandems, other equipment and support. Physical activity is a key element in rehabilitation from treatments.

Story

Please note the change of details on how to join the ride (below).

The MBPC 6 hour Zwift Challenge
Together Jonathan Parker and Matt Bottrill are undertaking a 6 hour non-stop Zwift challenge to raise £2,000 for Cyclists Fighting Cancer. We invite you to support this effort by making a donation or simply joining us for some of the 6 hours of pedalling (details on participation are below).

Both Matt and JP’s families have felt the toll of cancer, so they have worked hard together to raise money for Cyclists Fighting Cancer (or CfC). Notable events include:

This event also provides you with an opportunity to ride on Zwift with Matt, a multiple National Time Trial champion who has set some of the fastest times ever ridden in the UK, including 1:34:43 for 50 miles, 45:43 for 25 miles and 17:40 for 10 miles. Matt, who has won every English National Championship (10, 25, 50 and 100 mile), now runs his own coaching company Matt Bottrill Performance Coaching Ltd (MBPC), from which he and his team coach athletes around the world in all disciplines from Time Trial and Road Racing to Sportive and Triathlon. Matt, JP and MBPC have worked hard together over the last 5 years to raise tens of thousands of pounds for CfC.

Like many charities, CfC relies heavily on events or people undertaking their own sponsored challenges to raise funds to help children affected by cancer. That source of fund raising has faced significant reductions due to the COVID-19 restrictions. Unfortunately, the needs of the children that CfC assists have not reduced.

In an effort to try and boost the funds CfC has available to help those children, Matt and JP have agreed, at short notice and without the opportunity for to undertake endurance training, to undertake a sponsored 6 hour Zwift ride on 13 June 2020.

We, CfC and the families that CfC supports would be enormously grateful if you could make a donation in support of CfC, however small or large.

Participation

We also warmly welcome people joining the event. 6 hours doesn’t appeal? No problem, feel free to join for however long feels comfortable. We encourage you to set yourself a challenge – perhaps aiming to raise £100 for joining for 3 hours. You are of course very welcome to just join for a cruise with Matt and JP.
