McBurney Transport £50 for 50 years · 5 June 2015

Raise the Roof is a joy-filled kids choir singing to change the lives of African children. So far we have raised £55,000 of the £75,000 needed to build a primary school in Uganda- a vision that God put in the heart of our director, Alyson Reid. Join our fun-filled journey and help finish our school!

Story

During 2015, McBurney Transport has been celebrating 50 years in business. As part of this we have chosen a local charity which we would like to support.

Some of the McBurney family members have been personally involved in the Raise the Roof project which involves a local children’s choir and community choir raising funds to build a school in an impoverished part of Northern Uganda. The choirs have teamed up with Fields of Life organisation who have completed many similar projects over the past 25 years.

We believe that giving a child an education can ensure they can get themselves and their families out of poverty. This project will enable 800 children to go to school each year and give them a future.

The Raise the Roof project currently has raised £60,000 and we at McBurney Transport would like to help them towards their target goal of £75,000.

We do not usually ask for donations but in a special year in the life of McBurney Transport we feel it is good opportunity to help others. We are also very aware of economic constraints on businesses today and with that in mind we came up with the idea of asking for £50 donation to reflect our 50 years in business. If you wish to donate more or indeed less, any contribution would be greatly appreciated.
