Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm Cycling 100 Miles with 2 amazing friends, Caroline Hill and Robyn Holter from Ilfracombe to Plymouth Hoe on 28th and 29th May 2022.

I'm cycling with my gorgeous friend Caroling who is a survivor of Breast Cancer👍.  She will be  10 years clear on 30th May 2022💖.  She is an inspiration to me and so many others and I don't know anyone else with so much enthusiasm for life. She is a bundle of joy and fun and laughs in the face of adversity.  I'm blessed to have her as a friend.

I'm also cycling for my darling hubby, Stuart, who is a cancer survivor.  Happy days💕!!

In March 2018 I persuaded him to go and get his really annoying cough checked out. You know that cough that you simply cannot reach!!  Neither of us suspected anything too bad because you never believe cancer is going to happen to you - right.  He actually had cancer of the Larynx and Cancer of the Tongue.  So there were lots of check ups, biopsies, MRis, PET scans and two operations followed by a month of radiotherapy in August 2021 which was horrific, but he is now clear of cancer and in remission. He got the news he was in remission on March 2nd 2022💖.

I can't thank all the consultants, doctors and nurses at the Royal Devon and Exeter hospital enough for everything they did for Stuart and continue to do. My words seem inadequate but they are heartfelt.

I would urge everyone, if you have something that is not quite right, to get it checked out.  It could be nothing.  However, if there is something wrong, it so important to catch it early.  Go for smear tests, get your mammogram done, send in your poo sample to get tested for bowel cancer and any other tests on offer.   If it's not on offer ask your GP.  Please.

Many thanks

Katrina
