Story
Harry's Rainbow is a wonderful charity that supports children who have sadly lost a parent or sibling. Like many charities, they are experiencing a huge drop in the fundraising income they rely on to fund their vital work with traditional fundraising events cancelled.
Paula is a trustee of this charity and can see how hard the team are working as they innovate to ensure they can continue to provide support services to young people, online for now.
This weekend Harry's Rainbow is holding a 'virtual' fundraising mountain climb, which is right up our street especially since we currently cannot get out into our beloved mountains. On Saturday, Tom, Elliot and I be among the many supporters climbing as many flights of stairs as we each can in an hour, at home, as part of a relay effort over two days.
We know these are uncertain times but if you could show your support with a donation – perhaps this month's Costa Coffee savings – to help a fantastic cause, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks from Simon, Tom and Elliot
Here's more about Harry's Rainbow, a charity that supports children and young people in Milton Keynes and surrounding areas who have been bereaved of a family member. This is done in many ways including: providing memory boxes with books and information relevant to their circumstances. We hold a Rainbow group once a month which provides the children the opportunity to spend time with others going through similar circumstances thus helping them feel less isolated and lonely. We also include activities that can help build self-esteem and confidence as well as instilling that its okay to have fun and smile. The families are also able to have holidays in our Rainbow home based in Camber Sands free of charge and we also organise adhoc trips in the school holidays, all trips that we provide are free to both the children and families.
