AWASA are a committee within Leonardo Helicopters consisting of apprentices and recent university graduates. As a committee, our main goal is to raise money for a chosen charity through fundraising initiatives. This year, AWASA have partnered with the PROMISEworks charity. PROMISEworks provide inspirational mentoring for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged young people aged 5 to 25 across Somerset. The charity is run by trained volunteers who enrol young people on a mentoring programme that aim to keep young people in education/training, reduce the risk of long term mental health issues, reduce self-harm and harm to others, and prevent anti-social/criminal behaviour. 98% of young people matched with a mentor felt their mentor helped addressed their problems.
