Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Myself and a 'willing' team of Spartans-to-be (some are already Spartans!) are training to take part in the Cambridge Spartan Race (a pretty hardcore 5km obstacle race) on 7th September and fundraising for it's host for 2014, Milton Country Park.

Milton Country Park is a country park which was saved from closure in 2008 and is now run by Cambridge Sport Lakes for the people of Cambridgeshire and beyond to enjoy. It is a 95 acre site offering a varied natural habitat, including lakes and woodland, for a wide variety of plant, animal and bird life. There is also a play area, a sensory garden for the blind and partially sighted and all the paths are wheelchair and buggy accessible. All ability cycling sessions are run here along with a myriad of other events for local people.

The park now receives very little regular council or central government support for it's day to day running cost. It is entirely funded by the park users through the £2 parking charge, facility hire and through contributions from local and on site businesses such as Cafe Diem located in the park.

By taking on this crazy challenge we hope to have some 'fun' and achieve something awesome whilst raising a few quid to help this hugely important local facility to keep running.
