Story

Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK and the second biggest cancer killer. Nearly 43,000 people are diagnosed with bowel cancer every year in the UK and about 1 in 15 people will be affected in their lifetime.

It is a devastating condition which, despite treatment, can have long-lasting implications. From a personal point of view, bowel cancer has affected so many members of my family - my father and father-in-law to name but two. I've seen first hand the impact it has had on their lives.

I myself have Lynch Syndrome Lynch syndrome - an inherited gene mutation which causes a genetic predisposition to different cancer types. Because of this I have a 20-80% chance of developing bowel cancer and will have regular screening throughout my life.

Given the prevalence of bowel cancer in the family, I am raising money for Bowel Cancer UK. They are the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. They fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.

Please support me to help Bowel Cancer UK in their mission to ultimately stop people dying of bowel cancer.
