Like all schools in the UK, Meadowdale Primary School is currently open for key worker children while their parents do vital work to support our community during the COVID-19 pandemic. We want to raise funds for our local hospital to show our support for the vital work that they are doing at this time. 

Our key worker children will be running a marathon between them in school on Thursday 23rd April. The children who are learning at home will be set the challenge to walk a mile a day for the next 26 days to complete their own personal marathon.

Every penny that we raise will go to the Leicester Hospitals Charity's emergency COVID-19 Response Fund.

The spread of coronavirus is affecting all of our lives. But while we make sense of this new reality, our hospital staff are all facing extreme pressures.

At this challenging time for us all, we’re determined to do everything we can to support the remarkable hospital staff leading the fight on the front line, while also helping vulnerable patients and their families.

By donating to this fund, you’ll be providing emergency funds to help hospital staff across all three of our hospitals cope with the extraordinary demands of fighting this pandemic. 

Your donation will help us to provide:

• a dedicated staff rest area at each hospital site, with comfortable seating, adjustable lighting and facilities for free hot drinks, so staff can recharge and refresh, or take a much needed catnap,

• extra equipment for staff rooms so frontline teams can have everything they need,

• emergency toiletry packs for staff working long shifts who don’t have the chance to return to their homes and loved ones,

• hand and body cream for staff who are washing their hands regularly and wearing personal protective equipment for long periods of time

• nutritious snacks and cold drinks,

• single-use craft items for our Play Specialist Teams to use on our children’s wards to reduce the risk of spreading infection.
