Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Neither Harry or I felt we were ready for this run and simply joined in with our friends while they were training. Each week the runs got longer and we surprised ourselves at managing to finish what were once unthinkable distances. I finally convinced Harry that we should give the Half marathon a go and support a worthwhile cause. Well that was the easy part! in the last few weeks of training I managed to knotch up a fair few injuries which meant that I couldn't train! With the help of a fantastic 'team', who patched me up and some positive mental attitude, I made it to Bath. Now all we had to do was run 13.1 miles!
The day was miserable, wet and cold. Harry decided to stay with me for the run, giving up his chance to do a sub 2hour time. He also sprained his ankle at around the 4 mile mark. As we ran the messages from family and friends kept us going. When things got really tough memories of my father and his warm and reassuring voice telling me I could anything if I put my mind to it, helped me focus and battle through the pain.
Mile 10 was the hardest- body hurting, wet and cold but then you convince yourself you only have 3 miles to do.
Finally the 12 mile marker is in view- that's it, we are on the finishing stretch and that's when you see people around you in first aid tents and collapsing while they are running. All very dramatic!
The finish line is in sight and the cheers from the spectators pull you across! We made it.
Harry did a time of 2.11 hours and I hobbled in at 2.16!
