At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Whilst reading a Slimming World magazine I saw the notice to do this challenge and I thought what a great opportunity this would be and such a huge personal achievement to aim for. As it was also for the Alzheimer's Society it made sense as my step nan 'Little Ann' had suffered dementia for a short while before she died in October 2012 at a rather young age.

Dementia, alzheimer's and other brain degenerative diseases, I feel are one of the most cruel, effecting people of any age, not just the old and infirm. This is why it is so cruel, people can have to live for years suffering and the nature of these diseases mean those around them also suffer and often feel hurt.

The work the Alzheimer's Society do is amazing, touching so many people even if it is to just brighten their day a little, whilst trying to find a cure for these terrible illnesses. I am proud to be able to donate and hopefully raise money to help the cause.
