Story

On 21st April 2024, I will be joining the #TeamMarieCurie runners to take to the streets of London and running 26.2 miles in aid of Marie Curie. All the money that is raised helps Marie Curie Nurses provide vital care and support to people with terminal illness, and their families at the toughest time. £20 pays for one hour of vital nursing care at home for someone living with a terminal illness.£57 pays for an hour of clinical support from an expert nurse via our Support Line.£180 pays for a whole night of care from a Marie Curie Nurses.

My amazing Nan, Mavis Hieatt, sadly passed away on the 7th March 2023 following a difficult year fighting Cancer.

Throughout the year, a huge help my family received was through the amazing Marie Curie team. The care they provided for my Nan was truly incredible and provided immense relief for my family knowing she was in good hands when they couldn’t be by her side.

I’m running to hopefully help other families receive the same support and care that my Nan, and my family who were also closely caring for her, were so grateful to have.

Those who were lucky enough to have known Mavis will know very well of the strong character that she was! She was the strongest, feistiest and funniest woman, characteristics that were not lost even towards the end. So I’m running in honour of my wonderful Nan Mavis and to say thank you in the best way I could think to the amazing Marie Curie nurses that helped her so much.

It would be really appreciated if you could donate/sponsor me to help me and the whole Hieatt family say a big thank you to Marie Curie!
