At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

This year I will be taking part in the Great North Run (the previous one I signed up for was cancelled due to COVID).

I will be raising money for Alzheimer’s Society in memory of my lovely grandma Margaret. For those of you who know me will know I am NOT a runner and that running a half marathon will be a challenge for me. In fact I absolutely hate running but The Great North Run is something I’ve always wanted to take part in.

There are so many fantastic charities out there but this one is especially close to my heart. After witnessing first hand the effects this disease has on the individual and their families/friends too.

There is currently no cure for Alzheimer's disease, no way to stop it or slow its progression.

My grandma was loved unconditionally, she made me laugh when I didn't feel like it and always knew what to say when no one else did. Alzheimer's disease stole my grandmas personality and eventually it took away her life.

Any donations no matter how big or small will make a difference and I’m so grateful for all the support.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story- please share!

All my love Megan❤️
