Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The Constantine Convicts will be breaking free of University and attempting to travel as far as possible away from Campus, with no money in aid of the charity Kidscan.
Kidscan is a Salford-based charity that funds and manages research into new and improved treatments for children with cancer. Relying entirely on donations from the public and businesses, the charity funds research to develop new treatments that not only cure cancer in children, but also prevent the heart breaking side effects of current treatments such as learning difficulties, mobility issues and infertility. The university’s previous fundraising efforts have helped Kidscan with a variety of different projects with the most recent and promising one being a discovery into a way of allowing healthy cells to take charge of cancerous cells, stopping them developing into tumours. Any donation would ensure this vital work carries on and being a smaller enterprise, a contribution is guaranteed to have a significant impact.
Jailbreak, the fundraising activity we will be taking part in is an annual event in universities across the country, encouraging students to move out of their comfort zones and travel and campaign independently. Without spending a penny of their own, participants first must raise the £375 needed to participate and then use their initiative and skill to build up the distance. This is done either through generous contributions in support of the chosen charity, for example, in the form of tickets and travel methods or financial support. In 2017, York University students managed to raise over £17,800 for Kidscan, the winning team travelling an impressive 3,099 km to Gran Canaria, with other teams reaching Stockholm, Rome, Berlin, Lille and Salzburg. Students collectively
travelled a total of 15,000 km.
We would appreciate any contribution you can make that would mean we could spread our campaign, raise awareness and support this vital charity.
